Oscar winner Resul Pookutty to sound mix Bhansali's next film
February 23, 2009
Resul Pookutty who had just won an Oscar on Sunday for sound mixing for Slumdog Millionaire which also won Best Picture will work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next film starring Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai.
After creating history by becoming the first Indian to bag the Oscar Award for best sound mixing for Slumdog Millionaire, Resul Pookutty is now looking forward to put his audio wizardry in Sanjay Bhansali's next film featuring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan which is scheduled to start later this year. Resul and Sanjay Bhansali have earlier worked together in Black (2005) and now, the duo is expected to work for the first time on an outdoor location in Goa. The challenge this time is to make Goa feel, look and sound different from what it has been in umpteen Hindi films.
According to Sanjay, Resul is extremely demanding of his actors. "Our actors are not used to sync sound. Resul is very particular and doesn't allow the actors a chance to lose focus for even a second. He's very clear about how he wants the actors to speak." Sanjay feels Resul's Oscar triumph would change the way Indian cinema looks at technicians. "He has brought glamour and excitement to the process of creating sound in our cinema. He's a wonderful boy and has given such a wonderful thank you speech on receiving the Oscar." Full article.

Hrithik praises Barbara
February 9, 2009
Hrithik has nothing but all good words about his Kites co-star Barbara Mori.
For his next film Kites, hunkstar Hrithik Roshan is starring opposite the Spanish beauty Barbara Mori and he has nothing but great things to say about the actress. "She's one of the best actresses I've ever shared the camera with. She's unbelievable!"
Hrithik went on to praise Barbara to Subhash K Jha saying that he learned a lot while working with her, "Her acting style has opened my eyes as an actor. It has been a very liberating experience. Her basic approach to acting is so different from what we are taught here. Everything is about being real. We in this country act out every scene. She doesn't." In fact Barbara got so into one of her emotional scenes that she actually cried the whole day, " I couldn't believe it. Yeah I've learnt a lot from Barbara and all the other actors I worked with in Kites," Hrithik added.
The film is a first because it will not only be in Hindi, but also Spanish and English, in fact according to Hrithik 75% of the film is in English. It will be made in two versions, one for Indian audiences and one for the international market. Producer Rakesh Roshan told TNN, "English is the most common language all over the world. The Indian version has more Hindi dialogues, while the overseas has more English. However, essentially it is a Hindi language film."
Hrithik Roshan flying high with 'Kites'
February 8, 2009
Rakesh Roshan talks about the Reliance Big Pictures and Filmkraft joint deal for Kites release.
When contacted, Rakesh Roshan said, "I cannot comment on the amount. The deal is of a completely new structure, not tried out here before, and the amount can even go up to Rs 200 crore. The fact is that the deal has been divided into two structures all over and the film has been made in two versions - one for the Indian market, the other for the overseas market."
Roshan revealed his strategy, and said, "I was playing the waiting game, for I wanted to see who would take the initiative. I think the vision of Big Pictures matches my vision - about the film's international appeal." Roshan gave the credit for the deal to Hrithik, and his banner Filmkraft. He said, "This time our film has an appeal not only for Indian viewers and NRIs, but also for an international audience."
Speaking about the two versions of Kites, he said, "English is the most common language all over the world. The Indian version has more Hindi dialogues, while the overseas one has more of English. However, essentially it is a Hindi language film."
Rajesh Sawhney, official spokesperson, Reliance Big Pictures, says, "We (Filmkraft and Reliance Big Pictures) will mutually arrive at a figure closer to the release date. I think it is a great script and a great cast with international potential. That's why we have struck this deal."

Luck By Chance reviews
February 1, 2009
Positive reviews of Luck By Chance from various sources, click on the link for full review. Watch audience reaction to the movie.
Hrithik Roshan is truly wonderful. Note the sequence when he strikes a conversation with Karan Johar, only to realize that he himself had paved the way for Farhan in the industry. Only an accomplished actor could've handled this sequence with aplomb. Amongst the A-listers who make fleeting appearances in the film, the one who registers the maximum impact is Shah Rukh Khan. On the whole, Luck By Chance is an outstanding film in all respects. A magnificent outing from the producers of Rock On!!, Luck By Chance is sure to prove an extremely lucky and rewarding experience at the box-office. Strongly recommended! -- Taran Adarsh, BH
Super stand-out performances by Rishi, Dimple, Sheeba, Hrithik Roshan(as a superstar on the skids) and of course, Konkona, whose best performance this is. -- Subhash K. Jha, BH
Hrithik Roshan, Juhi Chawla and Rishi Kapoor have meaty parts and essay them with élan though Rishi and Juhi necessarily overplay as demanded. -- Mutiny
Hrithik Roshan in an extended special appearance is simply superb. His dance sequence is awe inspiring. -- IB Times
One of the highlights of the film is undoubtedly Hrithik Roshan, who plays the role of the insecure star with such skill and ease. -- Reuters

Hrithik injured in Kites shooting
February 1, 2009
Should be no surprise here, it's normal for Hrithik to get himself injured during filming of his movies and this time he hurt his arm while shooting Kites at the Filmistan Studio in Mumbai on Tuesday. "Hrithik hurt his arm while doing a stunt shot for 'Kites' at the Filmistan studio. He was breaking a glass with a rod and one piece of glass flew and hurt him. It's a minor injury - there's nothing major," a source close to Hrithik told IANS. Hindustan Times however reports that the action scene required him to smash a windowpane with a rod and enter the room. "The shot didn't work well two times and the third time Hrithik hit the flass so hard that glass shards flew everywhere," said a source. "One sliced through his wrist and blood gushed everywhere. The cut was so deep that Hrithik could see his bone", added the source. NDTV has a video report with comment from director Anurag Basu.
